Rating by category:
I like modern decor, the price and the location.
I thought one of the people at the front desk wasn't very friendly. I thought the lobby was very small.
Excellent bang for my buck. The hotel is new and so everything was still spick-and-span. Bed (and especially the pillows!) were very comfortable; organic toiletries were a nice touch. Wi-fi is speedy once you get over the rocky initial connection and the flatscreen has cable. Large wardrobe in each room enough to hold all our belongings. Located in Brooklyn but within a 5-minute walk to a subway stop. Breakfast at diner was excellent (and the diner itself was right in front of said subway stop -- convenient). Staff were friendly and approachable.
Just as a note, the rooms are as small as advertised: after accounting for the (wonderful) bed, there is barely one foot of space on each side. Not every room had the promised iPod dock (and not every room had an end table). Shower head was fixed.
very good room, with a lot of sun, choice of color is great
the air conditioning can not be under 86, and sometimes it's to warm in the room
The bed is very comfortable; sheets are soft and cool. Staff is very accommodating.
The non-existent lobby and lack of signage.
The beds were comfortable but were not full mattresses, they were 2 twins pushed together. The bathrooms were brand new and aesthetically pleasing. The air conditioner could be monitored from the room for comfort but no air in halls or elevator.
There are many details that need to be sorted out by the hotel owner/management before they can be a quality hotel..the "king bed" is 2 twins pushed together, the drawers of the placard can't even be used/opened because they are jammed so close to the bed you only have 2" to crack them (?), there's no air/ventilation in the halls or elevator so it's baking hot, I was told they have a mini fridge, but they only have a tiny 20"cube communal refrigerator in their basement with storage and junky construction materials, and if you are booked in one of the corner rooms, it's the most absurd in the hotel, they won't move you as their policy is no fussing..and the hotel owner/manager wouldn't speak with me about it when I requested him (the receptionist called and he refused to speak with me because it was a Sunday I was told) Really, this hotel is going to get trashed in less than 5 months with guests constantly rubbing up against the walls since there is no space to get around the beds..in our corner room, we couldn't open the front door and use the bathroom door let alone have a place for our luggage (it stayed in the bathroom and when leaving we had no choice but to set them ontop of the bedding! (Yuck..how many times is that going to happen) on and on...it's just in need of revamping and finding a way to accomodate the tiny rooms with functional furniture and to advertise honestly about what the ammenities really are for the room (our room should've been less price than the reg. King room)
Once we realized one street over was a nice neighborhood with great restaurants and lovely brownstones it was great. The street that led to the Union from the subway was scary and dirty. The female staff were so warm and friendly and helpful.
There was a Russian man who checked us in who was unfriendly and rude. We almost left on the spot. The rooms are really small, but ok. We found condoms under our bed from the last stay.
The staff was good, and when asked to change the bedding was provided with an extra bedding, wifi was good, and off course the breakfast was good but would had preferred to have it in the hotel itself.
The room was too small for two adults and a child, the bed was also very small.
I loved the hotel! It was small yes but it was perfect...a no frills place could have used a coffee maker in the room but there is a coffee and bagel place on the corner and my room came with a wonderful full breakfast which I must say was a delight in its own right the owner of the small cafe was friendly and the food was great! The hotel staff however small which was Lauren behind the desk. She was wonderful gave us so many places to see and was very very nice to us! It was an extremely hot day in the high 90's and our room air conditioner was a life savor.. Our room was new and very modern every thing was new and clean the beds were so comfortable and the bathroom was awesome! Our experience of this hotel was a " 10 " the price was excellent. We plan on staying every time we are in Brooklyn!
Could have used a small chair for the desk in the room and a coffee maker..but that is it .. its the perfect place!
Very small claustrophobic rooms, dull grey colour noisy airconditioner serving as head board. Basic, basic, basic. Not worth the price
Modern-like look. Continental breakfast.
Rooms were far too small. Pictures on website are deceiving. Barely any room to move. Temperature of hotel was extremely warm.
The hotel staff were quite nice. There was no problem to help me change to another room after an little issue arose. There was also a mix up with room keys that had me accidently walking in on someone in their room, and then another delay to find my bag which was put in another room but who knew where? It was all fine in the end though. The woman staff member who helped was very nice to me and she remained pleasant and in control even in this tough situation.
I thought the area was a bit rough and not good for a single female traveller who is alone unless you know ny and Brooklyn already. I got very lost on the way to the hotel which shook me up a bit as I walked through some not so good areas. Lesson - get off at union and no other subway stop or it will be painful. Having said that, once I knew where to get off it was very easy to find the hotel and I came home late on 2 nights with no problem. The right subway stop makes a big difference. However, if I had known the area was a little shady I wouldnt of picked this area of Brooklyn. The cool part of Brooklyn which also feels safer is somewhere else, in Williamsburg. It was really tricky to get to W'Burg from the hotel as the green line is under maintenance, so the most efficient way was to go back to Manhattan, to travel back to Brooklyn, even though I started out from Brooklyn. The rooms were tiny and the aircon is right near the bed and noisy too-it sounded like being inside an aeroplane. No hair conditioner....bring your own.
They couldn't find my reservation so I stayed at the Butler st hotel. I had my reservation number & it didn't come up on the system but they had a room at butler st for me with a king bed which cost me 75.00 dollars more. Ann at the desk was very helpful & we made do.
the color and design in rooms; the showers are awesome
I was not charged the Booked.net rate; was charged more even though I uused Booked.net. the breakfast is outside at a diner.
the location was excellent
the room was really small - there was just a bed and the wardrobe, but very clean
The hotel was well situated close to subway and nice streets in brooklyn like 5th ave and flatbush ,the room was clean ,the breakfast in the union station diner was good ,the american lady behind the reception was friendly and helpful, for the price and location I would recommend this hotel
Well the room was very I mean very small even though we had a queen room there was no space in the room anywhere the gentleman at the reception was surly and uninterested and not helpful ,its obvious the hotel isnt finished something they could mention when booking ,but the enormous air condition unit( too much capacity for such a small room?) which took up a lot of space in the room was the most strange feature ,as we like to sleep with the window open we didn't use it as it was noisy but de aircos of the other rooms which reverberated in the cul de sac made the room also very noisy we slept with ear plugs
